Responsibilities

The Physical Security Specialist, under the direction and supervision of the Physical Security Compliance Manager is responsible for assisting with management of the organization-wide physical security program, including 1) the implementation of security measures to protect the employees, participants and visitors as well as the facilities and respond to security incidents; 2) conducting regular audits and assessments to ensure physical security program compliance; and 3) conducting investigations into physical security incidents, theft, workplace violence, and other breaches of physical security.

Essential Functions and Work Responsibilities

Functional Category: Physical Security Compliance

Estimated Percent of time Spent – 80%

  • Assist in the identification, assessment and mitigation of physical security risks to the organization; develop and implement an enterprise-wide physical security framework; develop and implement security incident response plans and protocols; measure performance and drive continuous improvement of the physical security program.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal stakeholders, including management, other corporate groups and teams, business lines and regions to build consensus and leverage cross-functional resources to mitigate risks to the organization.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and staff to enforce compliance with policies and standards to help ensure consistent application of security practices across the organization and timely response to various physical security events.
  • Conduct physical security risk and compliance audits for all InnovAge properties. Leverage stakeholder relationships to influence successful mitigation of resulting physical security findings.
  • Assist with developing, implementing, enforcing, and updating physical security-related policies, standards and procedures.
  • Assist with developing and delivering physical security training and awareness programs.
  • Gather, and report on applicable metrics regarding the delivery of physical security functions.
  • Evaluates and reports on the compliance and effectiveness of education efforts, and makes changes as requested.
  • Performing audits of documentation, departments, and functions to ensure adherence to regulatory guidance.
  • Monitoring physical security systems maintenance and repairs.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of corrective actions and coordinates follow up as required.
  • Recommending corrective actions and/or shows improvement opportunities to reduce regulatory non-compliance.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting and updates to ongoing incidents.

Functional Category: Workplace Violence Prevention Administration

Estimated Percent of time Spent – 20%

  • Conduct data collection and analysis of workplace violence incidents.
  • Develop reports to comply with present and future compliance and accreditation requirements.
  • Establish collaborative partnerships to coordinate multiple reporting and data collection sources and requirements.
  • Manage the tracking and validation of reported incidents and evaluates their related impacts while recommending opportunities for future mitigation.
  • Creates reports/presentations and prepares education on workplace violence prevention for all levels within the organization.
  • Assists with the development and updates of policies and procedures to mitigate workplace violence and threatening behavior identifying people of concern.

REQUIRED

Education

  • Bachelors’ degree in related field, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

  • Requires state issued driver’s license, personal transportation, good driving record and auto insurance as required by law and the ability to trav
  • Requires ASIS Associate Protection Professional (APP) and/or Physical Security Professional (PSP) designation or ability to obtain within one (2) years of hire date.

Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum four (4) years of Physical Security experience required.
  • Ideal candidate will have physical security experience in the healthcare industry at health delivery and/or insurance organizations.
  • In-depth knowledge on the design, implementation, and maintenance of security systems and service as well as conducting investigations.
  • In-depth knowledge of workplace violence prevention and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience managing projects.
  • Superior customer service skills and orientation
  • Strong verbal and written (report) communications skills and presentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism at all times under stressful situations
  • Ability to plan and manage work under time constraints
  • Ability to multitask and work without direct supervision
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving and crisis management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and collaborative style.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Power Point, Visio and Microsoft Outlook software.

PREFERRED

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

  • ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP), preferred.
  • IAHSS Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), preferred.
  • Other Safety and Security Management related license or certification.

Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of security best practices including subject matter expertise for technical, physical and electronic protection systems.
  • High-level critical thinking and analytical skills, management experience and exceptional relationship management competencies to understand the impact and sensitivity of security issues.
  • An advanced and functional understanding of current and emerging safety and security industry standards, technologies and systems.
  • Ability to develop and project-manage full life-cycle implementations for core physical security programs, including creation of policies, standards, guideline, processes, procedures, plans and tactical deployment of security technologies.
  • Behavioral Threat Assessment and Threat Management experience highly desired.
