Winnies is hiring now: HEAD OF SECURITY
Winnies is a brand-new college bar opening in August 2026, and we're looking for a Head of Security to help us launch and lead our security team from day one. This is a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new concept, shape our safety culture and procedures from the start, and grow alongside the business as we establish ourselves in the Lexington scene. Key Responsibilities:
- Previous security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for bar patrons and staff
- Correctly check IDs on all patrons upon entry to ensure legal entry
- Respond to emergency situations in accordance with established procedures and policies
- Monitor large crowds for behaviors not allowed by establishment policy
- Prevent losses and damage to the bar
- Remove violators of rules from the premises in accordance with bar policy
- Handle situations in a fast-paced environment using good customer service skills
- Consistently and effectively de-escalate situations as they arise
- Hire and train a part-time security staff to work alongside
- Obtain any required security certifications after hire (provided/facilitated by Winnies)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in security, military, or law enforcement
- Ability to maintain professionalism and appropriate conduct at all times
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must pass a pre-employment background check
- Ability to be patient, firm, and fair with patrons
- Strong initiative and good judgment when responding to situations
- Ability to maintain situational awareness at all times
- Ability to maintain composure during high-stress situations
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in environments with hundreds of people
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time in front of people
- Availability to work nights and weekends, including Fridays and Saturdays
