Role Description The Retail Security Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Coralville Iowa City, Cedar Rapids IA. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for customers, employees, and company property, including monitoring store premises, deterring theft, and responding to security incidents. Day-to-day tasks include patrolling the sales floor and exterior areas, observing customer and employee activity, identifying suspicious behavior, and reporting concerns to store leadership. The Retail Security Officer will assist with incident documentation, cooperate with local law enforcement when needed, and follow company policies on loss prevention and safety. This role also involves providing courteous assistance to customers, supporting emergency procedures, and collaborating with store teams to uphold Hy-Vee’s high standards of service and safety.

• Strong observational and situational awareness skills, with the ability to identify and respond calmly to potential security risks.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers, team members, and law enforcement.

• Ability to follow security procedures, document incidents accurately, and adhere to loss prevention policies.

• Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, and respond quickly in emergency situations.

\n

• Prior experience in retail security, law enforcement, military, or a related field is beneficial.

\n

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional security or safety training and certifications are a plus.

\n

• Demonstrated reliability, integrity, and sound judgment, with a commitment to maintaining a respectful, inclusive environment.

• Availability to work a full-time schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
