Responsibilities / Duties: Conduct Facility Condition Assessments in the field utilizing an electronic tablet to enter building condition information into the Facility Condition Assessment software application, quantify and describe the building / facility being assessed and note the deficiencies found. Communicate in a concise written report the condition of the building / found for inclusion in the assessment report. Communicate and collaborate with cost estimators preparing the deficiency cost estimates and assist the project team in grouping noted deficiencies and developing “project” to address the deficiencies found.
The Facility Assessment Architect shall interview the POC to determine existing issue and problems regarding the subject building and shall inform the Assessment Team of possible areas of concern during the Condition Assessment.
Minimum Requirements: 2 to 15 years of experience in the design, construction and/or operation of capital projects, commercial and governmental facilities. The Facility Assessment Architect shall be:
· Knowledgeable of applicable building codes and criteria as necessary to examine field conditions to determine the work required to bring existing facilities / buildings into compliance.
- Able to identify general building components and materials and construction type such as, but not limited to,
- Wood frame
- Steel and Concrete
- Pre-Cast Concrete
- Curtain Wall
- Able to reasonably estimate the age of building system or components
- Able to identify structural systems and issues with the system
- Able to identify general building components and materials from “as-built” drawings
- Able to identify conditions of general architectural finishes
- Able to manipulate spreadsheet data using MS Excel type software
- Physically able to place barcodes on various types of building equipment; chillers, boilers, electrical panels, etc.
- Able to walk and assess area in excess of 50,000 square feet of building space per day
- Able to discuss and articulate building systems and components with owner, owner’s representative or maintenance staff as necessary

· Able to write concise building facility summaries detailing architectural issues found and the architectural typology of the facility / building
- Able to apply general construction knowledge to create building projects, develop deferred maintenance or capital plans based on types of building components and conditions encountered.
- Able to work well with other team members and disciplines to complete high quality multi-discipline field assessments

Preferred Requirements: Registration as an Architect with the California Architects Board (registration is not a requirement for this position, but a preferred qualification), and 4 to 15 years of experience in the design, construction and/or operation of Commercial and governmental facilities.

· Animal Care and Control Facilities
· Health Care / Clinic Facilities
· Public Social Services Facilities
· Juvenile Detention and Correction Facilities
Required Education: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Building Science or related design discipline.
