Superior Skilled Trades is seeking an experienced Lead Maintenance Technician for a temp-to-hire opportunity at a shopping mall property.
PAY: $27–$30 per hour
PER DIEM: $100 per week
SCHEDULE: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
HOURS: 40+ hours per week
START DATE: September 20, 2026
DURATION: Temp-to-hire
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a hands-on maintenance professional who can handle minor repairs throughout the property while also coordinating outside vendors for larger repairs. This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable working with tools and communicating with contractors, vendors, tenants, and property management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Hands-On Maintenance:
- Perform general building repairs, including drywall patching, painting touch-ups, doors, locks, hinges, and hardware
- Handle minor plumbing repairs, including clogged toilets/sinks, faucets, flush valves, flappers, supply lines, and minor leaks
- Perform minor electrical repairs, including lamps, switches, receptacles, LED retrofits, and resetting breakers
- Repair restroom fixtures and partition hardware
- Replace ceiling tiles and address minor floor/trip hazards
- Perform basic carpentry, including shelving, trim, minor framing, and fixture installation
- Change filters and perform basic HVAC checks
- Conduct daily property walks and report deficiencies
- Respond to tenant work orders and prioritize based on urgency
Vendor Management:
- Schedule and coordinate outside vendors for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, fire/life safety, elevator, paving, and other major repairs
- Obtain and compare vendor quotes and submit them for property management approval
- Coordinate vendor access and after-hours work while minimizing tenant disruption
- Verify vendor insurance and licensing before work begins
- Inspect completed work to ensure the scope was properly completed
- Track work orders, invoices, and preventive maintenance schedules
- Maintain vendor contacts and service records
REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of building, facility, or property maintenance experience
- Commercial or retail maintenance experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and general building repairs
- Comfortable working on ladders
- Able to read and follow safety procedures
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Must own basic hand tools
- Must be able to safely use hand/power tools and PPE
- Must be able to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- Organized and able to manage multiple work orders and vendor projects
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Previous shopping center, mall, or multi-tenant retail experience
- Experience with work order or CMMS software
- OSHA 10 certification
Additional Requirements for Maintenance Lead:
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Must have reliable transportation to the job site
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
