Overview

Under the direction of the Cookie Plant Manager and the Hermitage Facilities Manager, the Cookie Plant Facilities Maintenance Lead Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance and repair of the facility and support equipment. This position serves as the primary facilities maintenance resource for the Cookie Plant and is expected to work independently while planning, coordinating, and executing facility maintenance activities and small capital or improvement projects. Responsibilities include performing repairs, developing maintenance plans, coordinating contractors and vendors, procuring materials, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to production. This position also works closely with Production Maintenance, Quality, Sanitation, and Production personnel to troubleshoot problems while maintaining the efficient production of a safe, quality food. The position is primarily daylight hours with required flexibility to complete scheduled and emergency projects that may occur outside of daylight or weekday hours in order to support uninterrupted production. Working through production shut-downs is required.


Responsibilities

  • Complete preventive maintenance work orders and general repairs for the building and facility support equipment, including but not limited to building, rooftop equipment, warehouse, air compressors, generator, trash compactor, truck unloading blowers, and chillers
  • Independently troubleshoot facility issues and determine the most effective repair solutions with minimal supervision
  • Aid in the coordination of facility improvement projects from concept through completion, including scheduling, material procurement, contractor coordination, and project execution
  • Obtain quotes, order materials, manage inventories of critical spare parts, and ensure project resources are available prior to scheduled work
  • Work with contractors while on-site to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company food safety and safety requirements
  • Support the installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment and facility systems
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Manager, Engineering, and Maintenance Supervisor to refine existing Preventive Maintenance program and develop new PMs as new equipment is placed
  • Work cooperatively with the Hermitage Facilities Manager for large-scale capital projects
  • Provide support to the greater Facilities Maintenance team for the Hermitage sites by aiding in projects at the Hermitage Cone Facility and other local Joy locations as needed
  • Prioritize work based on production needs, food safety risk, personnel safety, and business impact
  • Infrequent travel may be necessary
  • Consistently maintain compliance with all food safety, quality, and manufacturing requirements by adhering to established protocols, following allergen control procedures, complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and identifying and reporting defective materials, food safety hazards, and potential product contaminants
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated record of mechanical skills and experience
  • HVAC experience preferred
  • Relevant trade school certificate or equivalent experience preferred
  • Megamation Maintenance Software or equivalent CMMS experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
