Job Description

Job Description Are you the go-to problem solver when production is on the line?

If you can walk into a busy plant, zero in on the highest-risk maintenance issue, and rally people, tools, and parts to fix it safely and fast—this role is for you.

What challenges will you tackle?

  • Direct and execute maintenance for buildings, critical equipment, and site grounds to keep operations running.
  • Prioritize and schedule work, then accelerate tasks and projects to reduce downtime.
  • Coach teammates—sharing mechanical expertise, safe methods, and maintenance best practices.
  • Ensure every job is kitted with the right tools, supplies, and materials before it starts.
  • Model safety: follow procedures rigorously and complete incident reports without delay.
  • Own shop organization and housekeeping so anyone can find what they need, when they need it.
  • Identify urgent repairs and spotlight them to leadership with clear rationale and timing.
  • Set tomorrow up for success by staging work areas and parts at the end of each day.
  • Keep the site accessible year-round—including winter snow plowing when required.
  • Handle opening and closing responsibilities for the building or yard.
  • Adapt your hours—arrive early, stay late, and adjust to special schedules as needed.

Who you’ll partner with

You’ll report directly to the Chief Operating Officer. While you won’t manage a team on paper, you’ll often coordinate efforts across technicians, operators, and vendors to get the job done.

What you bring to the table

  • High school diploma.
  • 10+ years of hands-on maintenance and equipment repair.
  • 5+ years working within a material handling and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Meticulous, practical, and resourceful problem-solver.
  • Fluent in reading engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Expert at diagnosing faults and determining maintenance and spare-part requirements.

Conditions of the work

  • Physical work with frequent standing, walking, bending, and facility-wide movement.
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and odors typical of shop settings.
  • Use PPE at all times—safety glasses and hearing protection are required.

How you operate

  • Integrity: You earn trust through ethical choices and clear, open communication—and you expect the same from others.
  • Quality: You hunt for improvements, simplify processes, and follow through on commitments.
  • Customer focus: You anticipate needs, listen closely, and nurture productive relationships internally and externally.
  • Self-confidence: You bounce back from setbacks, own outcomes, and take smart, calculated risks.
  • Action/speed/change: You initiate change and standardize where it accelerates results.
  • Boundaryless: You source the best ideas anywhere, bring in outside help when needed, and connect information across teams.
  • Commitment: You bring a can-do mindset, set clear priorities, focus on high-impact work, and push to exceed goals.
  • Systematic planning: You prioritize, organize data, set both short- and long-term goals, foresee obstacles, build contingencies, and track milestones.
  • Relationship building: You read cues and motivations, tailor your message, predict concerns, and craft win-win solutions.
  • Problem solving: You identify root causes, choose the right tools, and apply quantitative analysis.
