Position Summary
Seeking a Security Officer to provide on-site security support in a hospital environment, including facility monitoring, incident response, patient/visitor assistance, and traffic control. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with strong communication skills, reliability, sound judgment, and a stable work history; prior security experience is not required.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, and staff.
- Monitor hospital facilities and respond to security and safety concerns.
- Respond to incidents requiring Security involvement throughout the facility.
- Assist patients, visitors, and staff with directions and general questions.
- Investigate and accurately document accidents, hazards, incidents, and security concerns.
- Operate a ProMedica Security Cruiser and perform traffic control duties.
- Support parking enforcement and regulate traffic as needed.
- Assist with de-escalation and response to aggressive or challenging situations.
- Assist with restraining combative patients when necessary, following established policies and training.
- Follow all security, safety, and operational procedures.
- Maintain required training and certifications.
- Work independently as the sole Security Officer assigned to the shift while coordinating with hospital staff and the Security team.
- Provide additional coverage when needed, subject to department requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous security experience not required.
- Stable work history preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record/MVR.
- Must be approved to operate a company Security Cruiser.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to accurately document incidents, accidents, and hazards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including assisting with combative patients when necessary.
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays.
Certifications & Training
- IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification must be obtained within the first 6 months; it is not required before starting.
- CPR certification will be completed on-site.
- At least 1 week of on-the-job training will be provided with another Security Officer.
- Two days of De-escalation and Response to Resistance and Aggression training will be provided and paid.
