Job Overview:

Primarily responsible for the ice rink operations. This person will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the rink, including ice resurfacing, temperature monitoring, equipment maintenance, and ensuring a clean and safe skating environment.

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and community-minded Ice Rink Operations Attendant to help bring holiday magic to Asheville Yards Holiday Ice Rink this winter season.

This dynamic role requires a unique balance of physical labor, mechanical upkeep, and cheerful public interaction. You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the ice rink, including ice resurfacing, preparing the site daily, and ensuring attendees have a wonderful experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform morning opening or nightly closing procedures, including clearing walkways, preparing equipment, preparing facilities,
• Responsible for the precise and safe operation of the ice resurfacer (zamboni).
• Remove snow build up and excess ice shavings from the rink.
• Conduct daily inspections of rink facilities and make adjustments as needed.
• Responsible for routine maintenance and cleaning of ice resurfacing equipment
• Maintain a daily maintenance log detailing resurfacing procedures and daily inspections
• Report malfunctions or irregularities for preventative maintenance.
• Collaborate with staff to support overall venue cleanliness including trash removal, tidying the skate-rental area and keeping signage, holiday decor and holiday lights clean and in good working order.
• Coordinate with facility staff to prep the rink for special events.
• Greet guests with a friendly, welcoming, and holiday-spirited attitude.
• Enforce rink safety rules politely but firmly to ensure a secure environment for skaters of all ages and skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic motor vehicle experience and willingness to learn how to operate an ice resurfacer
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, problem solving skills.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods in the outdoors while cold.
• This person would be available on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
• Must be available most weekdays and weekends (typical weekend shifts would be 8am-3pm or 3pm-10pm)
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all workplace rules and procedures
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Works well with others and has a customer service state of mind.
• Ice skating skills help but are not required.
