Insight Global's client is seeking a Director of Maintenance & Engineering to lead all ride, waterpark, facilities, grounds, construction, and infrastructure maintenance operations across the park.
Reporting directly to the park President, this individual will serve as the senior maintenance leader responsible for operational performance, workforce leadership, labor relations, capital planning, safety, and asset reliability. The ideal candidate is a strong people leader who can develop managers, increase accountability, drive operational improvement, and successfully lead a unionized workforce.
This is a high-impact opportunity to rebuild and strengthen a maintenance organization that has operated without dedicated leadership for over a year.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead all maintenance operations across rides, attractions, waterpark systems, facilities, grounds, and infrastructure.
• Oversee approximately 70 employees during peak season through multiple layers of leadership.
• Direct preventative maintenance, reliability, safety, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Manage capital improvement projects, contractors, vendor relationships, and departmental budgets.
• Lead management-side labor relations activities, including CBA administration, grievances, and union partnership efforts.
• Develop managers, improve accountability, and build a culture focused on communication, ownership, and performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, labor, and operational regulations.
• Support seasonal operations, special events, emergency response efforts, and on-call leadership responsibilities.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• 8+ years of progressive maintenance, facilities, engineering, or technical operations leadership experience.
• Experience leading managers, supervisors, and large maintenance teams.
• Strong background overseeing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, utilities, infrastructure, and facilities operations.
• Experience managing capital projects, budgets, contractors, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Proven ability to drive accountability, process improvement, safety initiatives, and team development.
• Strong leadership, communication, project management, and organizational skills.
• Bachelor's degree, relevant certification, or equivalent experience.
• Valid Driver's License and ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on call as needed.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Management-side union experience, including CBA administration, grievances, labor relations, and contract interpretation.
• Amusement park, theme park, water park, resort, zoo, airport, or hospitality maintenance leadership experience.
• Experience supporting collective bargaining negotiations or labor-management initiatives.
• Skilled trades environment experience (IBEW, Operating Engineers, UA, Teamsters, etc.).
• AIMS and/or NAARSO certifications.
• CMMS experience, maintenance analytics, and reliability-focused programs.
• Project Management certifications and large-scale capital project experience.
Location: Muskegon, MI (On-Site)
Compensation: $125,000
