POSITION: Maintenance Shop Supervisor
Location: Fresno - Whitesbridge location
Schedule: Monday-Friday (1:00 PM start, occasional Saturdays)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000-$75,000 (based on experience)
JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance activities, supervising shop personnel, and ensuring the repair, inspection, and preventive maintenance of company vehicles. This role ensures all work is completed safely, on schedule, and according to quality standards and regulatory requirements (DOT, CHP, Cal/OSHA). The Maintenance Shop Supervisor works closely with operations and other departments to minimize fleet downtime and maintain safe, functional work environments.

- Supervise technicians and assign daily work orders based on operational needs.
- Ensure completion of work orders and timely data entry into maintenance software (e.g., Dossier).
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules and ensure PM compliance across assigned sites.
- Coordinate with operations for repair scheduling to minimize service disruption.
- Support emergency repair response and troubleshoot vehicle failures, including mechanical, hydraulic, and
- electrical systems.
- Conduct hands-on training for technicians; participate in ongoing observations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance records and compliance files per DOT, CHP, OSHA, and
- Cal/OSHA standards.
- Enforce safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures and use of PPE; participate in safety inspections and
- meetings.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop area; assign housekeeping duties as needed.
- Maintain parts inventory and assist with cycle counts, audits, and supply tracking.
- Review and approve employee timecards; ensure compliance with meal and rest break policies.
- Communicate daily status updates and repair timelines to the Fleet Manager and operations teams.
- Engage vendors for parts or services as directed by the Fleet Manager.
- Promote company values and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
- This position reports to: Fleet Manager
- This position supervises: Technicians
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Technical certification or associate degree in diesel technology or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of heavy-duty truck or equipment maintenance experience.
- At least 1 year in a supervisory or lead technician role.
- Experience with Class 6-8 equipment preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficiency with maintenance software (e.g., Dossier) and diagnostic tools (e.g., Cummins Insite, Allison DOC, Bendix ACom).
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA/Cal-OSHA standards, and preventive maintenance best practices.
- Ability to interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Outlook); ADP familiarity preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Class C license required; Class B CDL preferred.
