Maintenance Technician – Electroplating / Metal Finishing Facility
Pay: $28.00–$34.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time | Monday–Friday | On-site
Position Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on, safety-conscious Maintenance Technician to support our production operations in a fast-paced electroplating and metal finishing facility. This role is critical to ensuring equipment uptime, facility safety, and environmental compliance.
The ideal candidate will bring strong electrical troubleshooting, HVAC, and light plumbing experience, as well as expertise in chemical handling, pump repair/rebuilding, and general industrial maintenance. Two key qualities we are looking for are problem-solving and self-direction. You must be a team player, detail-oriented, and committed to learning and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment, tanks, heaters, HVAC units, boilers, ventilation systems, and facility infrastructure.
· Proactively identify, source, and procure necessary tools, parts, and equipment to ensure timely and effective repair and maintenance of machinery and facility systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including motors, controls, wiring, and heaters.
- Troubleshoot, rebuild, and install chemical pumps, valves, and related plumbing.
- Maintain and support the operation of the wastewater treatment system, including pH adjustments, process testing, and calibration of sensors/instruments.
- Ensure proper ventilation and fume extraction systems are functional and maintained.
- Assist with tank cleaning, emptying, and refilling procedures on both production lines.
- Use Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and follow all safety protocols during maintenance activities.
- Respond to emergency repairs and breakdowns promptly to minimize production downtime.
- Maintain and update maintenance logs, wastewater records, and equipment documentation.
- Track and manage inventory of critical spare parts and supplies, notifying purchasing as needed.
- Operate a forklift, as well as use hand and power tools, electrical meters, and lifting devices.
- Interact with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance work.
- Maintain awareness and compliance with all relevant Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical handling guidelines.
- Work in compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company-specific safety regulations, especially when working around hazardous materials.
- Participate in facility improvement projects and assigned tasks by management.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with coworkers, supervisors, and vendors.
Skills & Qualifications:
· 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in metal finishing, plating, or manufacturing
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and system diagnostics
- Experience with pump repair, rebuilds, and chemical process systems
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, and light plumbing
- Comfortable working around chemicals, fumes, noise, and industrial equipment
- Familiar with ventilation systems, air handlers, and containment procedures
- Knowledge of LOTO safety procedures, PPE, and hazard communication
- Ability to interpret schematics, manuals, and work instructions
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
- Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs. and working on your feet throughout the shift
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
- Dependable and self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in teams
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass a drug test
- No felony convictions (due to licensing requirements)
- Must consistently demonstrate safe work habits and attention to detail
