Maintenance Technician
Location: Newark, NJ 07102
Employment Type: Full-Time / On-Site
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Rate: $18.00 - $19.00 /hourly
Hours: 40 hours per week
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the Facilities Department. The Maintenance Technician will perform general repairs, preventative maintenance, and routine upkeep throughout the school's facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the facility.
- Assist with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and sheetrock repairs.
- Complete routine preventative maintenance.
- Install and repair equipment and appliances.
- Identify and address facility maintenance needs.
- Report completed and outstanding work to the Facilities Manager.
- Work alongside maintenance staff and outside contractors as needed.
- Respond to maintenance issues throughout the property.
- Maintain a safe and functional environment throughout the school facilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Experience with carpentry, painting, and sheetrock.
- General mechanical knowledge.
- Valid driver's license.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with maintenance staff, management, and outside contractors.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and walk extensively throughout the school and its facilities.
- Must be comfortable being on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to move throughout the property and respond to maintenance needs as they arise.
- Must be able to perform general physical maintenance duties throughout the workday.
