Position Summary

Fulfillment Strategies International (FSI) is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Custodian to join our warehouse operations team. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and organized environment throughout our warehouse, administrative offices, and common areas.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. This individual must be capable of performing repetitive cleaning and maintenance tasks while consistently adhering to established safety procedures and cleanliness standards.

The Custodian plays an essential role in supporting daily operations by ensuring that all designated areas of the facility are properly maintained, presentable, and conducive to a safe and productive workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facility Cleaning and Maintenance

• Perform routine custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, and sanitizing designated areas throughout the facility.

• Clean and maintain floors, windows, walls, doors, furniture, fixtures, and other interior surfaces.

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of employee restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and frequently touched surfaces.

• Clean and organize employee break rooms, including tables, countertops, sinks, appliances, and shared spaces.

• Maintain conference rooms, reception areas, lobbies, hallways, offices, and other common areas to ensure a clean and professional appearance.

• Perform periodic deep-cleaning tasks and other scheduled cleaning assignments as directed.

• Address spills, debris, and other housekeeping concerns promptly to reduce potential workplace hazards.

Waste Management and Supply Replenishment

• Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash, recyclables, and other routine waste materials from designated collection areas.

• Empty and sanitize trash receptacles and replace liners as needed.

• Maintain cleanliness around designated waste collection and disposal areas.

• Monitor and replenish restroom and facility supplies, including toilet paper, paper towels, soap, hand sanitizer, and other consumable products.

• Notify management when cleaning supplies, equipment, or materials need to be replenished or replaced.

Safety and Workplace Organization

• Follow all established company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable workplace safety procedures.

• Properly handle, label, store, and use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to manufacturer instructions and applicable safety guidelines.

• Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing assigned duties.

• Maintain clear walkways, exits, and access points by promptly addressing routine housekeeping concerns.

• Identify and report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, or potential hazards to management.

• Properly store and maintain custodial tools, supplies, and cleaning equipment.

• Follow established procedures for spill response, sanitation, and waste disposal.

Operational Support

• Complete assigned cleaning tasks within established timeframes while maintaining quality and safety standards.

• Work independently and collaboratively with warehouse personnel, supervisors, and other departments.

• Respond to additional cleaning requests and changing operational priorities as needed.

• Assist with general warehouse housekeeping and other operational tasks as assigned, within the employee's training and qualifications.

• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

• Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, general maintenance, or warehouse experience preferred.

• Ability to perform repetitive cleaning and physical maintenance tasks in a fast-paced work environment.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

• Basic verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively manage assigned responsibilities.

• Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

• Willingness to follow company policies, established cleaning procedures, and workplace safety regulations.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing operational needs.

• Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with employees, supervisors, and management.

Physical Requirements

The position involves regular physical activity and requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to lift and carry materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.

• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movements.

• Ability to operate standard custodial equipment, including mops, brooms, vacuums, cleaning carts, and other approved cleaning tools.

• Ability to perform routine cleaning activities requiring manual dexterity and sustained physical effort.

• Ability to maneuver throughout warehouse areas, offices, restrooms, and common spaces.

Work Environment

• This position is primarily performed in an active warehouse and distribution center environment.

• Work includes indoor warehouse spaces, administrative offices, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.

• Some outdoor exposure may be required during the workday, including exposure to varying weather conditions.

• Employees may encounter warehouse-related noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and moving material-handling equipment.

• Routine exposure to approved cleaning products and chemicals may occur, with appropriate training and protective measures.

• The position involves a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks and shifting priorities.

• Employees must remain alert, follow designated pedestrian pathways, and observe warehouse safety protocols at all times.
