Role Description The Maintenance Worker is a full-time, on-site role based in Plainview, NY, responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of agency facilities. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine building inspections, completing repairs, and handling basic carpentry, plumbing, and general maintenance work. The role involves operating and maintaining tools and equipment, performing preventive maintenance on building systems, and responding to work orders in a timely manner. The Maintenance Worker will collaborate with other facilities staff, follow safety protocols, and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on facility needs.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance for building systems.

  • Ability to safely use and maintain power tools and hand tools for general repair work.
  • \n

  • Experience with basic carpentry tasks such as repairs, installations, and minor construction.
  • \n

  • Working knowledge of plumbing systems, including troubleshooting and minor repairs.
  • \n

  • Strong attention to safety, ability to follow established procedures, and commitment to maintaining clean, organized work areas.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with staff and vendors.
  • \n

  • Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and working in various indoor and outdoor environments.
  • \n

  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior maintenance or facilities experience in residential, commercial, or human services settings is preferred.
