The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair tasks across plant facilities and equipment. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and basic structural components. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying issues, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, machinery, and facilities
- Conduct routine inspections to identify issues and prevent equipment failure
- Repair and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and drainage
- Troubleshoot and perform basic electrical repairs (e.g., lighting, outlets, minor wiring)
- Maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems
- Complete basic carpentry tasks such as repairing structures, doors, and fixtures
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and working conditions
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections
- Accurately and promptly record completed work, materials used, and any issues encountered
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product quality
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–3 years of general maintenance experience (industrial or plant environment preferred)
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems
- Ability to read manuals, blueprints, and technical documents
- Valid driver's license (if required for the role)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical) are a plus
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot minor assembly issues

Physical Requirements
- Ability to Stand and Walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry/move up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent needs to: climb, crawl, push, pull, lift, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, speak, hear, visually inspect work, rotate arms at various angles, reach overhead, reach at or below shoulder level, gross, fine manipulation to operate hand and power tools, etc.
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Work in an environment with exposure to noise at levels not requiring ear protection, chemicals, and dust. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and eye protection
- Must be able to wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and respirators as required
- Work off a ladder, stands and a creeper
- Seasonal Temperatures may impact work environment
