We are seeking a Fumigation Service Manager Trainee to join our team. This role will provide on job training, classroom training, learning how to manage a field service crew and learning the Fumigation business from the ground up. The position will require passing and maintain DOT standards and passing a CDL Test Class C and Hazmat Exam.
Fumigation Manager
Position Summary
The Fumigation Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, safety, compliance, scheduling, quality, and financial performance of the fumigation department. This position manages fumigation crews and ensures all fumigation services are completed safely, efficiently, professionally, and in accordance with company policies, pesticide labels, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The Fumigation Manager is expected to provide strong field leadership, maintain high standards of accountability, develop employees, protect company assets, provide excellent customer service, and ensure each fumigation job is completed correctly from initial planning through final clearance and documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Manage the daily operations of the fumigation department.
- Schedule and coordinate fumigation crews, equipment, vehicles, materials, and job assignments.
- Review upcoming fumigation jobs for scope, structure or commodity size, treatment requirements, staffing, equipment, and special conditions.
- Ensure crews arrive at jobs prepared with the proper equipment, PPE, fumigants, monitoring instruments, warning devices, documentation, and supplies.
- Monitor job productivity and make adjustments when necessary to keep projects on schedule.
- Coordinate residential, commercial, structural, container, commodity, and other fumigation work performed by the department as applicable.
- Maintain communication with customers, sales personnel, technicians, management, and other departments throughout the fumigation process.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all fumigation activities are conducted according to the registered pesticide label and applicable company, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Enforce proper fumigant handling, application, monitoring, aeration, clearance, transportation, storage, and disposal procedures.
- Ensure employees properly use required personal protective equipment and respiratory protection.
- Maintain compliance with applicable EPA, OSHA, DOT, state pesticide regulatory agency, and company safety requirements.
- Verify required licenses, certifications, training, medical evaluations, fit testing, and employee qualifications remain current.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and field observations.
- Immediately address unsafe work practices or regulatory concerns.
- Investigate accidents, exposures, spills, property damage, vehicle incidents, or other safety events and complete required documentation.
- Maintain accurate fumigation logs, application records, monitoring records, clearance documentation, and other required records.
Crew Leadership and Employee Development
- Directly supervise Crew Leaders and Fumigation Technicians.
- Establish clear expectations for attendance, productivity, safety, customer service, and professional conduct.
- Train employees in fumigation procedures, equipment operation, fumigant stewardship, PPE, monitoring, aeration, emergency procedures, and company standards.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and coaching.
- Identify employees who are ready for additional responsibility and develop future Crew Leaders and managers.
- Correct performance or behavioral problems promptly and consistently.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and a strong safety culture.
- Conduct regular crew meetings and communicate department goals and expectations.
Quality Control
- Perform field inspections to verify fumigation procedures are being followed correctly.
- Ensure structures, containers, commodities, or treatment areas are properly prepared and secured before fumigant introduction.
- Verify appropriate fumigant dosage and treatment procedures are being used for the target pest and treatment conditions.
- Ensure monitoring equipment and clearance devices are properly maintained and calibrated as required.
- Review unsuccessful treatments, customer complaints, retreatments, or unusual fumigation conditions and determine appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship while minimizing damage to customer property.
Customer Service
- Maintain professional communication with customers before, during, and after fumigation.
- Explain preparation requirements, treatment procedures, safety requirements, and reentry procedures when appropriate.
- Address customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Coordinate with customers regarding scheduling, preparation deficiencies, delays, or unusual job conditions.
- Work with management to resolve customer complaints and service issues.
- Ensure employees represent the company professionally at all times.
Equipment, Vehicles, and Inventory
- Maintain accountability for fumigation vehicles, trailers, fumigation equipment, monitoring devices, respiratory equipment, fans, hoses, tarps, cylinders, warning equipment, and other department assets.
- Ensure required inspections and preventive maintenance are completed.
- Monitor fumigant and supply inventory.
- Maintain proper fumigant storage and inventory-control procedures.
- Investigate missing, damaged, or improperly maintained equipment.
- Ensure company vehicles and equipment remain clean, organized, safe, and ready for service.
### Financial Responsibility
- Monitor labor hours, fumigant usage, vehicle expenses, equipment costs, overtime, retreatments, and other department expenses.
- Review job profitability and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs without compromising safety or service quality.
- Control overtime through effective scheduling and crew management.
- Reduce product waste and ensure fumigants and supplies are properly accounted for.
- Work with management to establish department revenue, production, and profitability goals.
- Review completed jobs to identify operational or financial problems.
Management Accountability
The Fumigation Manager is accountable for:

Qualifications
- Previous fumigation, pest-control, or related management experience strongly preferred.
- Thorough understanding of fumigation procedures and safety requirements.
- Ability to read, understand, and enforce pesticide labels and regulatory requirements.
- Appropriate state fumigation/pest-control license or certification when required for assigned responsibilities.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain required DOT, respiratory protection, hazardous-material, or other qualifications when applicable.
- Strong leadership and employee-management skills.
- Strong organizational and scheduling abilities.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers, employees, management, and regulatory personnel.
- Ability to analyze operational costs and job profitability.
- Ability to document activities accurately and maintain required records.
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and make sound decisions under pressure.
## Physical Requirements
The position may require the employee to:
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and work around structures, containers, trailers, vessels, or other treatment areas.
- Lift and carry fumigation equipment and supplies.
- Wear respiratory protection and other required PPE.
- Work around fumigants and fumigation equipment while following all required safety procedures.
- Work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or irregular hours when fumigation schedules require it.
