Role and Responsibilities:\n
\n
\nThe Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments on plant equipment, machinery, and facility systems to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations. This position uses hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment to diagnose and repair mechanical and equipment issues, responds to maintenance requests, and completes work according to established procedures and safety standards. The Maintenance Mechanic maintains accurate maintenance records, supports production needs, and helps ensure equipment and facilities remain in reliable working condition. Performs other duties as assigned.\n

\nEquipment Maintenance: Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Diagnose machine failures and implement effective corrective actions. Perform machine installations, relocations, upgrades, and modifications. Maintain equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company standards. Assist production personnel in minimizing equipment downtime.\n

\nFacility Maintenance: Maintain building systems including HVAC, plumbing, compressed air, lighting, and electrical distribution. Perform facility inspections to identify safety hazards and maintenance needs. Repair walls, doors, flooring, ceilings, windows, docks, and other building components. Coordinate repairs with outside contractors when necessary. Support facility improvement and expansion projects.\n

\nMechanical Responsibilities: Replace bearings, motors, gearboxes, belts, chains, pumps, valves, cylinders, and mechanical assemblies. Perform equipment alignments and lubrication. Read mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals. Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and machine shop equipment safely.\n
\n
\nPreventive Maintenance: Complete scheduled PMs using the company's CMMS system. Document all maintenance work accurately. Maintain spare parts inventory and recommend reorder quantities. Identify recurring failures and recommend permanent corrective actions.\n
\n
Qualifications and Education Requirements:\n
\n
\nHigh school diploma or GED required.\n
\n
\nCandidates must successfully complete all pre-employment screening requirements, including a background check, physical assessment, and lift test, to ensure the ability to safely perform the essential functions of the job.\n
\n
\nThree to five years of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical maintenance, manufacturing, or facility maintenance preferred.\n
\n
\nMust pass a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT). \n
\n
\nAbility to obtain a company issued aerial lift license for all aerial lifts on site lifts. \n
\n
\nAbility to obtain a company issued PIV license for all PIV's on site lifts. \n
\n
\nAbility to safely handle, store and dispose hazardous material and chemical waste in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.\n
\n
\nAbility to safely respond to and clean up chemical and hazardous material spills in accordance with established procedures including proper use of PPE, spill kits, SDS information and waste disposal requirements. \n
\n
\nBasic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and HVAC systems.\n
\n
\nAbility to read and understand equipment manuals, maintenance instructions, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.\n
\n
\nAbility to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain plant equipment and machinery.\n
\n
\nAbility to safely use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and maintenance equipment.\n
\n
\nKnowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.\n
\n
\nAbility to follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements, and PPE standards.\n
\n
\nAbility to respond to maintenance issues and prioritize repairs based on production needs.\n
\n
\nStrong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.\n
\n
\nAbility to work independently and effectively with production and maintenance teams.\n
\n
\nDependable attendance and punctuality with a strong work ethic.\n
\n
\nMust join a union.\n
\n
Preferred Skills:\n
\n
\nKnowledge of RCRA hazardous waste requirements.\n
\n
\nPrevious experience as an industrial, maintenance, or mechanical technician.\n
\n
\nStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.\n
\n
\nKnowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and HVAC systems.\n
\n
\nProficiency with hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and maintenance equipment.\n
\n
\nExperience with preventive and corrective maintenance programs.\n
\n
\nFamiliarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) and industrial safety procedures.\n
\n
\nAbility to diagnose equipment problems and determine appropriate repairs.\n
\n
\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to safe, quality workmanship.\n
\n
\nAbility to prioritize maintenance requests and respond to production needs.\n
\n
\nBasic computer skills and experience with maintenance or work-order systems preferred.\n
\n
\nStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.\n
\n
\nWelding certificate or license.\n

Physical requirements:\n

\nAbility to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.\n
\n
\nAbility to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and parts weighing up to 50 pounds.\n
\n
\nAbility to safely operate hand tools, power tools, step ladders, lifts, and other maintenance equipment.\n
\n
\nAbility to work in confined or difficult-to-access areas when performing maintenance and repairs.\n
\n
\nAbility to climb stairs, ladders, and platforms as required.\n
\n
\nAbility to reach above shoulder level and work with arms extended when necessary.\n
\n
\nAbility to use hands, wrists, and arms repetitively for maintenance and repair tasks.\n
\n
\nGood hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.\n
\n

\nMaintain 5S in work area.\n

\nAbility to work in a manufacturing and production floor environment, including indoor and occasional outdoor conditions, with exposure to hot and cold temperatures, noise, dust, vibration, moving machinery, electrical equipment, compressed air systems, and other active production operations.\n
\n
\nAbility to distinguish colors and identify parts, labels, and assembly components when required.\n
\n
\nMaintain regular attendance and work overtime or flexible schedules as needed to meet production demands.\n
\n
\nCommitment to workplace safety, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing principles.\n
\n
Safety Responsibilities and Requirements:\n

\nWear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, cut resistance gloves and sleeves, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear, as required.\n
\n
\nPerform Stretch and Flex exercises at the beginning of the workday as part of the company's safety program.\n
\n
\nResponsible for following all established procedures for safe handling, storage, use, labeling, and disposal of chemicals and hazardous waste, in accordance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements. \n
