Job Title: Maintenance Technician


Summary:

Under general supervision, the Maintenance Technician performs a variety of routine multi-craft maintenance for our campus facilities; ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades work. Operates a variety of maintenance and cleaning tools and equipment; and performs related work as required.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of routine multi-craft maintenance for campus facilities, including, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades work. Ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition.
  • Assembles, repairs, maintains, and moves furniture, such as desks, cabinets, tables, chairs, shelves, and related fittings and fixtures.
  • Conducts routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning equipment; replaces filters; identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs to supervisor.
  • Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor.
  • Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
  • Performs custodial tasks.
  • Performs related duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Minimum four years of relevant work experience.
  • Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Proven knowledge and performance of the following:
    • Methods and techniques used in the operation, repair, and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
    • Operational characteristics of a variety of tools and equipment.
    • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
    • Principles and practices of record-keeping.
  • Principles and practices for providing high level of customer service.
