We seek a reliable and dedicated residential building porter to perform cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep duties in residential buildings. This position will primarily focus on ensuring that all common areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained, with special attention paid to less-frequented areas such as electrical closets, storage rooms, storage closets, and mechanical rooms. The role will also include heavy and light cleaning tasks and some basic painting duties to maintain the overall aesthetic and functionality of the building.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Regularly clean all common areas, including hallways, stairwells, elevators, and lobbies.
- Conduct thorough cleaning and maintenance of less-frequented areas, such as electrical closets, storage rooms, and mechanical rooms.
- Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the building.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all common areas as needed, paying attention to detail.
- Clean windows, doors, and surfaces to ensure they are free of dirt and smudges.
- Inspect and clean common areas' light fixtures, vents, and air conditioning units.
- Special Attention to Rarely Used Areas:
- Perform periodic deep cleaning in electrical closets, storage rooms, and mechanical rooms.
- Ensure that these areas are well-organized, safe, and free of debris or hazards.
- Check for any maintenance issues or damage needing attention in these spaces.
- Painting and Minor Repairs:
- Touch up paint on walls, doors, and other surfaces as needed to maintain a clean and fresh appearance in common areas.
- Report any major repairs or maintenance needs to the building management.
- Safety and Organization:
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Keep cleaning equipment and supplies properly organized and in good condition.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in cleaning, maintenance, or janitorial work, particularly in a residential building, is preferred.
- Ability to perform both light and heavy cleaning tasks.
- Basic knowledge of painting and minor repairs is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in less frequently visited areas.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical ability to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks (including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods).
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
Working Conditions:
- This is a weekend position, with working hours on Saturdays and Sundays, 16 hours per week.
- The role may require lifting, moving furniture, and handling cleaning chemicals, so the ability to perform physical tasks is essential.
- Work is primarily indoors but may involve occasional outdoor tasks as needed.
These are some, but not all, of the responsibilities of a porter at Madison Square Park Tower. The porter will also be expected to perform additional duties as needed to ensure the smooth and secure operation of the building.
