Our mission-driven property management firm is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Property Accountant to assist in the accounting and financial reporting for our portfolio of affordable and low-income housing properties.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the real estate industry, with a demonstrated focus on the unique financial and compliance requirements of the low-income housing sector. We are looking for a self-motivated team player with strong analytical skills, the ability to manage deadlines, and an adaptive approach to special projects.
A college degree, preferably a BA in Accounting or Finance, is required. Solid computer skills are essential, and knowledge of Yardi Voyager is a significant plus.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Managing full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a designated portfolio of affordable and low-income housing properties.

Preparing comprehensive financial statements and reports for management, investors, and regulatory bodies, including those required for Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and other subsidized housing programs.

Ensuring proper accounting procedures and internal controls are followed to maintain accurate records.

Reviewing revenues and expenses for accuracy and correctness.

Coordinating with receivable and payable teams to ensure all transactions are properly entered and posted.

Preparing monthly and quarterly journal entries and schedules for various accounts.

Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets.

Preparing annual reports and financial schedules for outside accountants during audits, with a focus on compliance-related documentation.

Handling the filing of requisitions for reimbursement of major repairs and replacements.

Providing clear communication with fellow employees regarding budget variances and explanations.

Managing deadlines and special projects as needed.
