We are seeking a Maintenance Operations Manager to become a part of our team! Under the direction of the General Manager, the Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and integrating all operations of the Facilities Department. This role effectively plans, organizes, and provides leadership for the District’s construction and renovation projects. Oversee all facilities, including building maintenance, grounds, and transportation services. The Maintenance Operations Manager also serves as a liaison with government and regulatory agencies, vendors, and contractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Supervise: Manage and lead the Facilities Department staff, including managers, supervisors, and front-line staff. Establish performance requirements and development targets, providing coaching and feedback.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in the development and implementation of the District's strategic plans. Direct the preparation of long-range facility plans and specifications.
  • Operational Oversight: Direct and monitor all facilities operations, including the preventative maintenance and repair program, custodial services, and grounds maintenance. Oversee building systems, including energy management, and fire safety.
  • Project Management: Direct the management of construction and renovation projects, including preparing bid documents, evaluating bids, and recommending contract awards.
  • Safety and Compliance (California-Specific): Ensure all operations comply with state and federal regulations, with a strong emphasis on Cal/OSHA standards. The Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for preparing and ensuring compliance with the Chancellor's Office and state-mandated reports, including the District’s Five-Year Construction Plan and Scheduled Maintenance Program, as well as the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and Hazardous Materials Business Plans. Regularly inspect buildings and grounds for fire, safety, and health hazards.
  • Reporting: Prepare a variety of statistical and narrative reports for the Governing Board, District committees, and state and local agencies.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role. The ideal candidate will have experience in facilities planning, construction programs, and plant operations.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and track expenditures.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations related to facilities management in California.
