Current Salary: All guards are now part of a union; $20.90 plus $4.90 health and welfare: total: $25.80. All guards will receive a raise in March 2026. All guards belong to a union.

Synopsis
Armed Security Officers are primarily responsible to perform security and monitoring work such as securing buildings and property, protecting personnel, equipment and material, and controlling access to work locations by employees and visitors. The armed officer will respond to emergencies, conduct inspections and perimeter checks, and access control.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive Background Investigation conducted by the federal government (no DUIs, no felonies)
- Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English
- Must pass a medical physical/drug screen (paid for by Meritus)
- Texas Security Commission Card (level III) - do not apply if you do not have a valid/current Level 3
- Must meet height/weight standards established by the US Army
Education
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
- DD214 (if served in the Military)
Certifications
- Valid State Armed Security License (Texas Level III) - do not apply if you do not possess a valid Level 3 license from Texas
- Valid Driver’s License

Schedule:
- 1st Schedule: NIGHTS Wed-Tues 1900-0700 (7 & 7 rotation: work 7 days, off 7 days) May include weekends/holidays
- 2nd Schedule: Days shifts can vary 0545-1345, 0700-1800, and 0700-1900 (may include weekends/holidays)
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Galveston, TX 77550: Must have own vehicle with valid Texas registration/and vehicle insurance
