Job DescriptionAbout the Role:
The Building Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for employees, families, community partners, and visitors. This is a part-time position for 10 hours weekly with flexibility during hours of operation. This position performs routine cleaning, sanitation and light maintenance, while ensuring that organizational buildings and common areas are maintained in accordance with established standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and takes pride in maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.
Responsibilities:
- · Clean and sanitize offices, classrooms, restrooms, common areas, kitchens, and other assigned spaces
· Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and clean floors and surfaces
· Empty trash and recycling and maintain appropriate disposal procedures weekly
· Clean and restock restrooms and other shared areas
· Clean windows, doors, fixtures, and other building surfaces as needed
· Disinfect frequently touched surfaces and areas in accordance with organizational procedures
Facility Support
· Monitor assigned areas for cleanliness, safety, and maintenance concerns
· Report on building repairs, damage, safety hazards, or supply needs to the appropriate supervisor
· Assist with room setup, breakdown, and movement of furniture or equipment as needed
· Assist with snow, ice, or other seasonal facilities assigned
Safety & Compliance
· Follow established cleaning, chemical-handling, and workplace safety procedures.
· Properly use and store cleaning products, equipment, and supplies
· Follow organizational policies and procedures related to safety, security, confidentiality, and facility access
Customer Service & Teamwork
· Maintain a professional, respectful, and welcoming demeanor with staff, families, participants, and visitors.
· Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of individuals served by the organization.
Requirements:
- · Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping experience preferred
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
· Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
· Ability to safely operate basic cleaning equipment and supplies
· Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors
· Reliable attendance and punctuality
