The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This includes preventive maintenance and hands-on repair of welders, CNC machines, brake presses, laser cutting systems, overhead cranes, and other fabrication equipment. The ideal candidate brings strong electrical skills and thrives in a fast-paced, job shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair issues with production equipment, including: Welders (MIG, TIG), CNC machinery, Laser cutting systems, Brake presses and other metal forming equipment, Overhead cranes and hoists (mechanical, electrical, and structural)
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and uptime.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including wiring, panels, controls, and motors (120V, 240V, and 480V).
- Conduct crane inspections and maintenance in accordance with OSHA and manufacturer standards.
- Document repairs and maintenance activities accurately using Epicor ERP system.
- Oversee and coordinate with external contractors as needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Conduct facility repairs including lighting, HVAC filters, compressed air lines, and basic plumbing tasks.
- Read and interpret blueprints, machine drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and precision measuring equipment.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and other departments.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; Technical diploma or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electromechanical technology, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a welding/fabrication environment.
- Proven ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on complex machinery.
- Experience maintaining and repairing overhead cranes and hoists.
- Comfortable working with voltages up to 480V and knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures.
- Experience using Epicor or similar ERP systems for logging work orders and managing maintenance schedules.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Experience working at heights and in tight spaces, as required.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to complete maintenance logs and reports.
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 10 or 30
- Arc Flash Safety Training
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Forklift and Overhead Crane Operation Certification
- Journeyman Electrician License (a plus, not required)
Additional Information
- Must be available for occasional off-shift support or emergency maintenance needs.
- Employees are expected to bring their own hand tools; specialty and large tools are provided by the company.
- Ability to operate cranes and forklifts (training available if needed).
