BG Staffing is currently seeking an experienced and Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician to join a multifamily housing community in Newport News, VA 23609. The ideal candidate will have prior apartment maintenance experience, strong technical skills, and the ability to independently troubleshoot and complete a wide variety of repairs. Position Overview
As a Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the physical integrity of the property, completing service requests, preparing vacant units for occupancy, and ensuring residents enjoy a safe and comfortable living environment. Your expertise will help preserve the quality, appearance, and functionality of the community while contributing to resident satisfaction and retention.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Repair
- Complete resident service requests and work orders in a timely and professional manner
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliance-related issues
- Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment
- Repair and replace fixtures, hardware, locks, and other property components
- Conduct routine inspections of apartment homes, common areas, and community amenities
- Ensure all repairs are completed according to safety standards and company policies
Unit Turns & Make-Ready Services
- Prepare vacant apartment homes for new residents
- Perform painting, drywall repairs, cleaning coordination, and general make-ready tasks
- Complete punch-list items and quality inspections before move-ins
- Ensure units meet community standards and are ready for occupancy
Property Upkeep
- Assist in maintaining the overall appearance and curb appeal of the community
- Monitor common areas, grounds, and amenities to identify maintenance concerns
- Work closely with property management to address community maintenance needs
- Support special projects and property improvement initiatives as assigned
Resident Relations
- Deliver exceptional customer service when interacting with residents
- Respond professionally and courteously to maintenance requests
- Communicate effectively with residents, management, and fellow team members
- Help foster a positive living experience for all community residents
Qualifications
- Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician experience preferred
- Previous multifamily or apartment maintenance experience required
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, drywall, carpentry, and general maintenance functions
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues independently
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and work-order systems
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Ability to lift, carry, and move maintenance equipment and supplies as needed
