Job Description
Byers K9 Services LLC is expanding its security operations in Utah and is seeking a qualified individual to serve as our Utah Security Qualifying Agent (QA).
We are a growing security company specializing in K9 patrol services and professional security operations. As we establish our presence in Utah, we are looking for someone interested in joining our team during the early stages of expansion.
This position begins with a limited operational scope, focused on fulfilling Utah's qualifying agent requirements and maintaining the necessary licensing and compliance oversight.
We are not currently seeking someone to manage a large security operation. However, as additional contracts are secured, there will be opportunities to take on more operational responsibilities, leadership duties, and increased compensation.
How far this position develops will depend on the individual's interests, qualifications, performance, and willingness to grow with the company.
Initial Responsibilities
- Serve as the company's designated Utah Security Qualifying Agent.
- Maintain compliance with applicable Utah security licensing requirements.
- Fulfill the management and oversight responsibilities required of a qualifying agent.
- Assist with licensing documentation, regulatory matters, and required communications.
- Exercise the operational authority necessary to meet Utah's qualifying agent requirements.
- Communicate with company ownership regarding Utah operations and compliance needs.
The initial scope will be limited to our current Utah operations, while meeting all legally required QA responsibilities.
Additional Opportunities
K9 Patrol Handler – Optional
Candidates interested in working directly in the field may also qualify for paid K9 patrol assignments.
- Additional hourly compensation for approved K9 patrol work.
- Opportunities to work with professionally trained security K9s.
- K9 training and certification requirements apply.
- Patrol assignments are separate from qualifying agent responsibilities.
K9 patrol work is optional and is not required to be considered for the QA position.
Future Management Opportunities
As Byers K9 Services secures additional contracts throughout Utah, the qualifying agent may have opportunities to expand into:
- Field supervision and employee oversight.
- Security contract and site management.
- K9 operations leadership.
- Utah regional operations management.
Additional responsibilities and compensation will be discussed as the company expands. Candidates are not required to pursue every available advancement opportunity.
Qualifications
- Must be a Utah resident.
- Must meet the Utah Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) requirements to serve as a security company qualifying agent.
- Must possess the required qualifying security management or law enforcement supervisory experience.
- Must have passed, or be eligible to pass, the required Utah qualifying agent examination.
- Must meet Utah's employment, management authority, and background eligibility requirements.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and communication skills.
- K9 handling experience is preferred for applicants interested in patrol assignments but is not required for the QA-only role.
