Position Summary
Ellen Memorial is seeking a reliable Maintenance Assistant to help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for our residents and staff. This role supports daily facility operations through general repairs, preventive maintenance, and grounds upkeep within a Skilled Nursing / Long-Term Care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance and repairs

• Painting, wall repair, and window repair

• Basic plumbing (fixture repair/replacement)

• Basic carpentry (handrails, drawers, hardware)

• Light fixture and bulb replacement

• Electrical outlet/switch plate repair

• Heating and cooling system support

• Call system and general equipment repair

• Preventive maintenance on facility and medical equipment

• Maintain maintenance logs and service records

• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner

• Conduct routine safety inspections

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED

• Maintenance experience preferred

• Experience in Skilled Nursing or Long-Term Care a plus

• Knowledge of building repairs and preventive maintenance

• Valid Driver’s License required

Skills & Abilities

• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to follow safety and compliance standards

Stable healthcare setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, or pull at least 35 lbs

• Frequent bending, kneeling, and standing

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures
