Production Manager
Responsible for all preventative maintenance and repairs on all production equipment and routine facilities maintenance. Manages production and facilities projects including installations and renovations at Janesville facility. Responsible for supervision of maintenance staff.
- Responsible for maintenance of plant machinery and equipment following a standard preventive maintenance schedule to keep equipment functioning at maximum efficiency and reliability.
- Records all actions taken in equipment maintenance log promptly and accurately so that complete records are available for each piece of equipment.
- Implements actions to improve preventive maintenance procedures.
- Makes enhancements to equipment as required by Engineering and/or Production Manager
- Performs routine facilities maintenance as needed.
- Responsible for off-site part and supply pick up.
- Maintains tool room to ensure availability of tools, equipment and supplies necessary to perform maintenance functions and production equipment needs.
- Maintains maintenance department library of equipment manuals, drawings, and facility mechanicals.
- Makes suggestions to improve quality, efficiency, safety, and communication.
- Follows all safety practices and immediately corrects or reports unsafe or hazardous conditions. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Locates needed production equipment and coordinates purchase, delivery and installation as directed by Production Manager – some travel required. Contacts and coordinates equipment repair from OEM or outsource company and supervises service event.
- Research facility service providers obtains quotes, negotiate pricing, creates purchased order requests and coordinates service. (External maintenance, HVAC, building, …)
- Schedules inspections for facility systems; fire systems, backflow, utilities, etc. Maintains inspection records in hardcopy and digital format.
- Coordinates workflow and supervises staff who perform equipment and facility maintenance.
- Coordinates and supervises work from sub-contractors to perform major repair to equipment and facility projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned by department supervisor
- High school degree or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in equipment and facilities maintenance
- Knowledge of machinery and equipment maintenance
- Familiar with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing concepts, gas fired industrial ovens, thermal oxidizers, LFL systems, web-based conveyance systems, and static control systems.
- Trained in and had previous experience with “Lock Out Tag Out” programs.
- Contract negotiations.
- Able to read and understand machine schematics, PLC, trouble-shooting manuals, and to neatly maintain maintenance logs.
- Excellent trouble shooting /problem-solving skills of advanced computer-controlled machine systems and basic mechanical assemblies.
- Highly motivated, service-oriented self-starter
- Strong people / communications skills
- Able to climb ladders, stoop, bend and otherwise access all areas of machinery and equipment to perform maintenance.
- Possesses a valid driver license.
- Able to drive a forklift, man lift and other repair related equipment.
- Able to use precision measuring tools, such as dial caliper, micrometer, multimeter, tachometer, and static detection meters.
- Computer literate, basic use of explorer, outlook, word, excel, TEAMS, and software to view drawings (CAD, DWG).
- Able to supervise maintenance staff to perform basic equipment and facilities maintenance.
- Strong understanding of fabrication using a variety of materials.
- Strong background in machine controls systems, relay logic, PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and motor drives, programming experience a plus.
- Project management.
- Ability to mentor and teach.
