Job Title: Electrical Drafter (Contract Role)

Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled Electrical Drafter for a contract opportunity with our client in Richmond, VA. In this role, you will collaborate with Controls Engineers and other team members to develop, revise, and maintain detailed electrical control panel wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical. This position supports the production of high-quality thermal packaging solutions by ensuring accurate and standards-compliant electrical documentation.
Key Responsibilities:

Create, modify, and maintain detailed electrical wiring diagrams for control and power panels.

Collaborate with design and engineering teams to update and document electrical sub-systems.

Utilize AutoCAD Electrical to maintain design documents, including revision control and adherence to industry standards.

Ensure compliance with NFPA 79 and UL 508A standards in all schematic designs.

Review technical drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with drafting standards.

Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) for panel assemblies.

Develop one-line and three-line diagrams, as well as P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).

Apply best practices in electrical wiring, safety, and use of diagnostic tools.

(Preferred) Support and understand the full process of building complex electrical control panels from concept through completion.
Qualifications:

Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent hands-on experience.

Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical is required.

Strong understanding of electrical schematic design principles; formal training preferred.

Familiarity with manufacturing environments and industrial electrical systems.

Knowledge of industry standards such as NFPA 79 and UL 508A.
