Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies
  • Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies
  • Empties trash receptacles, hazard bins into a hazard barrel, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal
  • Ensure common areas such as break rooms, lobbies, and kitchenettes are cleaned and stocked
  • Maintain breakroom
  • Follow instructions about chemical use and safety hazards in the workplace
  • Wash and buff floors including the manufacturing facility
  • Ensure cleaning materials and supplies are stored safely and orderly
  • Maintain, submit a purchase requisition, and restock cleaning materials and supplies
  • Make note of the need for equipment repair
  • Report any potential food safety, quality or food defense concerns to the plant manager or quality personnel
  • Maintain product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures

Essential skills and experience:

  • Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
  • Other duties as required

Success factors/job competencies:

  • Proficient at time management
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Good attitude

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risk, which require following basic safety precautions. Employee may also be required to wear safety glasses and/or safety gloves.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. May be exposed to high noise levels that required hearing protection.
