Summary: Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of a building in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; HVAC maintenance; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- All the duties of Maintenance Technician I
- Responsible for performing routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
- Will need to diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Responsible for repairs on machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
- Responsible for assembling, installing, or repairing wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
- Responsible for cleaning or lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
- Responsible for adjusting functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
- Responsible for ordering parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or suppliers.
- Responsible for planning and laying out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
- Responsible for painting or repairing roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.
- Responsible for installing equipment to improve the energy or operational efficiency of residential or commercial buildings.
- Responsible for providing grounds keeping services, such as landscaping.
- May be required to assist other departments as necessary.
- Responsible for following all safety regulations at all work areas and job sites.
- Responsible for representing Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. in a professional, respectful, honest, and courteous manner with customers and co-workers.
- Responsible for professional levels of quality and quantity of work.
- The ability to work productively in teams as well as individually.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Trade school graduate preferred.
- Minimum two years of responsible maintenance experience required.
- Working knowledge of basic electrical systems.
- Basic electrical, carpentry, painting, landscaping, and general construction skills.
- Must be able to read and understand Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. Employee Handbook, safety plans, safety training, and SDS sheets.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Must be able to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
- Basic math skills; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring devices.
