Maintenance Technician

Location: Quincy, Boston, Burlington (depending on preference and company needs)

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the operation, upkeep, and general maintenance of assigned building(s), including Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), and Life Safety systems. This role supports building performance, tenant satisfaction, and overall property operations.

Key Responsibilities

Building Operations & Preventive Maintenance

  • Assist senior engineers with maintenance and operation of MEP and Life Safety systems.

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of critical equipment and building areas.

  • Perform patching, painting, and general upkeep of common areas and mechanical spaces.

  • Replace air filters, belts, lamps, and other basic components; escalate ballast replacements as needed.

  • Complete light plumbing repairs (faucets, soap dispensers, toilets, restroom partitions).

Tenant Service & Work Orders

  • Respond promptly and professionally to tenant work order requests.

  • Communicate clearly with tenants and management to ensure timely resolution of issues.

Contractor Coordination

  • Escort and oversee outside contractors to ensure work meets building standards and safety requirements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures outlined in company policies and manuals.

  • Promote a safe work environment through consistent adherence to best practices.

Emergency Response

  • Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours building emergencies.

  • Provide timely support during urgent situations.

Additional Duties

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned to support building operations and the engineering team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or vocational training required.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook 365.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, and performing manual labor.

  • Proficiency with tools and specialty equipment used in building maintenance.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with management, tenants, and vendors.

  • Ability to listen, learn, and follow instructions as part of a collaborative engineering team.

  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
