The Janitor maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment across office, restroom, lunchroom, and manufacturing areas by performing a variety of routine cleaning and basic facility upkeep tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain office areas, restrooms, lunchrooms, and manufacturing spaces to ensure a tidy and sanitary environment.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers regularly and transport waste to designated disposal areas or dumpsters.
  • Sweep and mop floors in offices, restrooms, lunchrooms, and shop floor areas as needed.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and other fixtures, and restock necessary supplies.
  • Perform general janitorial duties such as wiping down surfaces, cleaning doors and windows, and maintaining common areas.
  • Clean up debris and materials from the shop floor to support a safe and organized work area.
  • Collect and break down boxes and transport them to the dumpster or designated disposal locations.
  • Follow established cleaning procedures and schedules to meet facility standards.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety concerns, or supply shortages to the appropriate contact.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and use cleaning tools and supplies in a safe and responsible manner.

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience performing janitorial, cleaning, or helper duties in an office, industrial, or similar setting.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure all assigned areas remain clean and presentable.
  • Ability to follow cleaning schedules, instructions, and established procedures.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience cleaning office, restroom, lunchroom, and manufacturing or shop floor environments.
  • Comfort working around light manufacturing operations while maintaining cleanliness and safety.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to support overall facility cleanliness.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position with hours from Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The facility is very clean and well-maintained, with air conditioning and music playing over the PA system throughout the day, creating a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The culture is fairly laid back, but everyone is expected to stay focused and complete their work. The role involves working in office areas, restrooms, lunchrooms, and manufacturing or shop floor spaces, with regular movement around the facility and hands-on cleaning tasks.

This is a Contract position based out of Huntley, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
