Maintenance Technician- Weekly Pay
Location: SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA
Pay: $27-$32/hour
Hours: Various Shifts Available
The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs production equipment such as conveyors, mixers, ovens, and packaging machines to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations in a food production environment. This role performs both preventive and corrective maintenance, responds to emergency breakdowns, and supports compliance with food safety and workplace safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment, including conveyors, mixers, ovens, and packaging machines, to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
- Conduct corrective maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC, compressor, and hydraulic systems as issues arise.
- Respond quickly to emergency equipment breakdowns during production to restore operations as safely and efficiently as possible.
- Follow food safety rules and procedures when working in production areas, using proper cleaning methods and food-grade materials to maintain compliance with food safety standards.
- Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential issues and recommend repairs, adjustments, or upgrades.
Essential Skills:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 0 to 2 years of related maintenance experience.
- Experience working as a maintenance technician in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance on production equipment such as conveyors, mixers, ovens, and packaging machines.
- Basic knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC systems for troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Ability to work with electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repairing basic electrical issues.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience working on compressors, mechanical components, and hydraulic systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Two-year degree in a specialized maintenance trade is preferred.
- Experience working with refrigeration equipment in a production or industrial setting is a plus.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems and their maintenance is beneficial.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with frequent equipment changeovers and adjustments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues under time pressure.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with production and maintenance team members.
- Basic computer literacy to document maintenance activities and access digital procedures or manuals.

Work Environment:
You will work in a large food production facility with approximately 400 people in the building across all shifts. The environment includes production equipment such as conveyors, mixers, ovens, packaging machines, refrigeration systems, HVAC units, compressors, and hydraulic equipment. Shifts operate on a 12-hour schedule, with day shift hours from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and night shift hours from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with a shift differential for night work. The role requires regular movement around production areas, working in proximity to operating machinery, and adherence to strict food safety and workplace safety standards.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
