Job Description

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician I supports production operations by performing basic maintenance and repair duties on plastic injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and facility systems. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with a mechanical background who are looking to grow their career in the plastics manufacturing industry.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with routine maintenance and inspections of injection molding machines and related equipment.
  • Perform basic mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting under the direction of senior technicians.
  • Perform scheduled PMs as required
  • Conduct cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments to machines and tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Help maintain auxiliary equipment such as thermolators, dryers, chillers, and vacuum loaders.
  • Document maintenance activities, findings, and parts used in maintenance logs or CMMS systems.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and proper PPE usage.
  • Respond promptly to equipment downtime and assist in restoring production quickly and safely.
  • Keep tools and maintenance areas clean, safe, and well-organized.
  • Executes other duties/tasks as assigned by management leadership


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts, as needed.


Education, Certificates & or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0–2 years of maintenance or mechanical experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn injection molding equipment maintenance.


Other Preferred Skills (not required):

  • Prior experience with plastic injection molding equipment (e.g., Nissei, Mitsubishi, etc.).
  • Familiarity with safety standards in a manufacturing environment (e.g., OSHA regulations).
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, or electrical systems.
  • CMMS or maintenance software experience.
