The Catherine Hershey School Facilities Technician is responsible for overseeing and attending to mechanical, electrical, and structural trades issues at multiple CHS locations. This individual is required to have the knowledge, skill, and ability to maintain, service, and repair all building systems as required. Trade disciplines relevant to this position include plumbing, appliance repair, HVAC, building automation, lighting, and electrical systems and utilities. The Facilities Technician will report to the Facilities Supervisor and discuss updates, progress, risks, and issues regularly. Starting pay is in the range of $21 - $25 per hour, based on expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose issues with facilities systems and equipment and determine proper equipment or solution touse in each setting and execute the necessary changes when needed.
  • Perform proactive, corrective, and preventative maintenance on all facility equipment and buildingsystems
  • Identifying and correcting safety deficiencies
  • Completing all paperwork necessary for proper tracking of work completed and parts required.
  • Working with contractors hired for CHS maintenance
  • Travel between all CHS centers as needed
  • Attending safety trainings through CHS as needed, and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years' experience with demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques used in the installation, repair and maintenance of HVAC/R, plumbing, appliances, and basic electrical
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute manufacturer's recommendations regarding servicing and maintenance
  • Valid PA driver's license required
  • Ability to proactively identify problems and implement solutions
  • Excellent communication and customer skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Responsible, enthusiastic, and cares about working in a mission-focused organization
  • Willingness to be held accountable and receive feedback
  • Comfortability with technology including MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and/or willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to effectively work with low-income families preferred
  • Commitment to the mission and values of CHS and MHS and demonstrated high degree of integrity as all MHS and CHS staff are considered to be role models for children
  • U.S. work authorization and successful completion of pre-employment background checks and clearances
