Job Title: Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life
Reports To: Director of Housing and Residence Life
Location: Marywood University
Compensation: $57,000-$60,000 per year and a comprehensive benefits package
FLSA Status: Exempt

Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM), with headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, is a group of student housing professionals focused exclusively on the management of housing communities owned by non-profits and/or highly affiliated with a university.
Summary:
The Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life supports student development and growth through creating a positive residence hall environment steeped in community development. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Housing and Residence Life, the Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life is responsible for overseeing all administrative tasks associated with housing assignments and occupancy management at Marywood University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Duties include day-to-day oversight of office operations.
- Oversee housing assignments and occupancy management.
- Assist in creating a sense of community for the resident experience and encourage opportunities for student growth and development
- Represent the site and provide communication about the residential community to campus partners, owners, and COCM corporate staff
- Interpret Housing and Residence Life policies to residents and parents and communicate their perspectives to the University administration and governance committees. Distributes weekly status reports about the residential community including a weekly operations report and leasing status report. Serve on university committees as appointed and prepare reports, proposals and related correspondence in response to requests of residents, parents, faculty, and staff.
- Supervise Work Study Student staff, as applicable.
- Fill in for Director when appropriate in the Director’s absence.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
Facilities and Maintenance:
- Works directly with maintenance staff to ensure completion of work orders in a timely manner
- Works with maintenance to ensure rooms are move-in ready prior to occupancy.
- Walk buildings to ensure cleanliness and life safety standards are being maintained.
Marketing and Leasing:
- Participates in various recruitment events to market the residential community to prospective residents as requested.
- Maintain the Housing & Residence Life website.
Operations:
- Manages housing application, selection, and assignment process, including communication with students.
- Oversee and manage the housing software system, eRezlife, that is utilized to manage housing functions and processes.
- Assign housing assignments and meal plans.
- Assist in the day-to-day housing operations activity including hall openings/closings, room assignments and changes, break housing, roommate conflicts, maintenance concerns, etc.
- Manage department projects/initiatives at the direction of the Director of Housing and Residence Life.
Residence Life:
- Assist in developing and implementing learning objectives and assessment methods to ensure a variety of appealing educational, cultural, social, and spiritual development programs to enhance the learning environment. Impactful programming would occur both on a small scale in the residence halls, and on a large scale on campus, during the academic year.
- Serve as a conduct officer to educate students on University policies, the Student Code of Conduct, and personal decision making.
- Respond to student and parent inquiries and concerns with empathy and respect, demonstrating impartiality and facilitating fair and equitable resolutions that consider all perspectives with the underlying focus on student well-being.
- Participate in after-hours on-call emergency response rotation, serving as point of contact for students in distress and the Residence Life staff members who respond.
Other Duties:
- The Assistant Director position requires a regular workday with frequent responsibilities in the evenings and weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree with experience in student affairs, business operations, or a related field or work.
- 1–2 years full-time experience in Student Housing/Residence Life at a College or University.
- Must possess effective skills in customer service, leadership, time management, and organization.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse population.
- Must possess effective skills in customer service, conflict resolution, group facilitation, leadership, and organization, computer competency, and the ability to work with a diverse population.
- Must have comfort and confidence in managing confidential crisis issues.
- Must understand and appreciate the University's Catholic mission and values.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education or Business or a related field of study.
- 2–3 years full-time experience in Student Housing/Residence Life at a College or University.
- Experience working with undergraduate student populations.
