Job DescriptionPosition: Floating Apartment Maintenance Technician Location: Seattle & Tacoma 98105 Pay: 28-30 per hour
We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Floating Apartment Maintenance Technician to join a growing, locally operated property management team. This is a varied role combining approximately 25 hours per week of apartment maintenance and turnover work with approximately 12-15 hours per week of janitorial/property upkeep responsibilities. The position will typically spend half of the week supporting Tacoma properties and the other half of the week in Seattle, depending on property needs. The work week operates M-F. Most Seattle properties are located close to one another. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs across multiple apartment communities including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work
- Respond to maintenance requests from tenants and property management staff in a timely and professional manner
- Conduct regular inspections of units and common areas to identify and address maintenance issues
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed
- Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and building codes
- Assist with the preparation of vacant units for new tenants, including cleaning, painting, and minor repairs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the property manager or supervisor
- Availability to be on call for emergencies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in apartment maintenance or a related field
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical systems, including the ability to troubleshoot common issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to assist in coordinating turns and facilitating vendors
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly between Seattle and Tacoma properties
- English proficiency required; Spanish language skills are helpful but not required
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Working Conditions: The Apartment Maintenance Technician will work primarily indoors and outdoors, and will be exposed to various weather conditions. The position may require working on weekends and holidays, and may involve on-call duties. Physical Requirements: The Apartment Maintenance Technician must be able to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces. The position may require standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods of time. Compensation
