Job Description
The Custodian provides reliable janitorial and housekeeping services across an outlet mall, ensuring that indoor common areas and outdoor spaces remain clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors. This role focuses on routine cleaning, trash removal, and basic custodial upkeep, with opportunities to grow and take on additional responsibilities over time.
Pay: $15/hr to start
Shifts:
- Day: 8am - 4pm Monday - Thursday. Off Friday, 1 - 9 on Saturday, Off Sunday
- Night: 2pm - 10pm Sunday - Tuesday. Off Weds and Thursday, 3 - 11 Friday and Saturday,
Responsibilities
- Remove trash bags from trash cans, replace liners, and ensure trash receptacles are clean and properly positioned.
- Perform regular trash pickup throughout the property, including outdoor walkways, food court areas, and common spaces.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, counters, floors, and restocking paper products and soap.
- Clean the food court area, including tables, chairs, floors, and surrounding common spaces to maintain a neat and hygienic environment.
- Sweep and mop floors in indoor common areas and other designated spaces to maintain a clean and safe walking surface.
- Perform general custodial and janitorial duties, including dusting, wiping surfaces, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the facility.
- Pressure wash sidewalks and other outdoor surfaces to remove dirt, stains, and debris.
- Remove gum and other sticky residues from handrails and other high-contact surfaces.
- Support carpet and floor cleaning activities as needed, including spot cleaning and routine maintenance.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service when interacting with visitors and tenants.
- Assist with basic repair and upkeep tasks related to custodial work when directed.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with janitorial and housekeeping duties, including sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning.
- Ability to perform trash removal and trash pickup safely and efficiently across indoor and outdoor areas.
- Experience cleaning bathrooms, including sanitizing fixtures and maintaining hygiene standards.
- Experience cleaning food court areas, floors, and common spaces in a public or commercial environment.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate pressure washing equipment for sidewalks and outdoor surfaces.
- Capability to remove gum and similar residues from handrails and other surfaces using appropriate methods.
- General custodial skills, including floor cleaning, carpet cleaning, and basic janitorial repairs.
- Customer service skills to interact courteously and professionally with visitors and tenants.
- Ability to work primarily outdoors and adapt to varying weather conditions while maintaining performance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping roles in retail, commercial, or public facilities.
- Familiarity with high reach dusting and cleaning of elevated surfaces.
- Comfort using basic cleaning tools and equipment, including mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, and pressure washers.
- Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and identifying areas that need additional care or repair.
- Reliability and strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment
The work environment is primarily outdoors at an outlet mall, with regular duties performed in open-air walkways, sidewalks, and exterior common areas. The role also includes work indoors in shared spaces such as bathrooms and food court areas. You will use standard janitorial tools and equipment, including brooms, mops, cleaning solutions, trash collection tools, and pressure washing equipment. Work may involve standing, walking, and performing physical tasks throughout the shift, often in varying weather conditions. Attire should be practical and appropriate for custodial work, allowing for safe and comfortable movement while performing cleaning and maintenance duties.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Augustine, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.
