We are seeking a part time DayCare Attendant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about animal care and be willing and able to learn in a fast paced environment. As a DayCare Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being of our furry guests and providing top-notch care in a safe and clean environment. Candidates should be able to work independently and be self-motivated. This is a very physically demanding job and requires working outside part of the day, even in inclimate weather. Confidence is key in this position.
Duties:
- Provide daily care and attention to dogs in the DayCare
- Provide exercise and socialization for up to 15 dogs
- Clean and sanitize DayCare room daily, or as needed
- Monitor dogs for any signs of illness or distress and report to owners and management
- Handle animals with care and compassion, ensuring their safety at all times
- Interact with pet owners and provide excellent customer service
- Very physical job, on your feet most of the day walking with dogs and completing care tasks
- No use of personal cell phone at work (except on breaks)
Skills:
- Experience in kennel operations or dog socialization preferred, but on the job training is provided
- Knowledge of basic veterinary procedures and animal handling techniques preferred
- Ability to lift heavy objects and animals when required, 50 lb minimum
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor
- Excellent communication skills both with team members and pet owners
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Multitasking and time management skills required
- Ability to work independently and without supervision
On the job training is provided and there is a 90 day probationary period before benefits begin. Schedule flexibility is a requirement during this training period as new trainees are expected to learn all shifts and work a rotation with all senior staff. Once training is complete a more stable schedule will be devised.
