JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician works closely with Engineering and Operations to perform equipment maintenance and repair. The Maintenance Technician assists in fabrication of equipment and tools used to manufacture and inspect precision tubing products that meet customer specifications, organizational compliance, and safety requirements.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain Production Equipment (welding machines, tube drawing machines, annealing furnace, centerless grinding machines, liquid cooled saws, tube cleaning machines, tube shaping equipment, swaging machines.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to diagnose issues and perform corrective actions.
  • Set up and operate manual Bridgeport vertical mill, manual engine lathe, CNC Mill, drill presses, band saws, manual tool grinders, and surface grinders.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment to identify potential issues and perform preventative maintenance to avoid downtime.
  • Work with the production team to ensure that all equipment is functioning correctly and safely, minimizing production disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs for compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, quality control, and production, to ensure equipment reliability and optimal performance.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your team members.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to process optimization and cost reduction.
  • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and work overtime as necessary to ensure minimal production downtime.
  • Ensure that parts and tools are readily available and well-maintained to carry out repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Experience with stainless steel tubing manufacturing and equipment is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/CHARACTERISTICS

  • Proficiency with basic inspection hand tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gage pins
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer navigation
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Familiarity with computer-based maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Indoor production environment, duties performed indoors, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures; Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Personal protective equipment including safety glasses and gloves required in many areas associated with this position.
  • Works full-time during standard business hours; Must be available to train on first shift for 3-6 months
  • Daily exposure to metals, lubricants, solvents, electrolyte, and other hazardous materials. Daily exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts
  • Occasionally operate powered industrial equipment (forklift, powered pallet jack, etc)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequently positions self to move an item <25 lbs; Occasionally, 25-70 lbs
  • Regularly operates a pallet jack
  • Frequently move about the production floor and office area
  • Frequently operates a computer, enters data into systems, verifies information, etc.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and operating machinery with mechanical moving parts
