Job Overview:

The Security Manager for the convention center is responsible for overseeing all security

operations and ensuring a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, and assets. This

includes developing and implementing security protocols, managing security personnel, and

coordinating emergency response procedures. The role requires proactive leadership, strong

communication skills, and a focus on delivering exceptional service while maintaining safety

standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Operations Management:

 Oversee all aspects of security operations within the convention center.

 Ensure security procedures are followed at all times to maintain a safe environment for

visitors and staff.

 Implement and enforce security policies, including access control, surveillance, and

emergency procedures.

Team Leadership:

 Supervise, train, and schedule security personnel to ensure proper staffing and

performance.

 Conduct regular security briefings and training programs for the security team.

 Provide leadership and direction during events, ensuring security protocols are adhered

to.

Emergency Preparedness:

 Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios (fire, medical,

natural disasters, active shooter, etc.).

 Coordinate drills and exercises with staff to ensure a prompt and efficient response to

emergencies.

 Serve as a primary point of contact in case of any emergency incidents within the venue.

Risk Management:

 Identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities within the facility and work to

mitigate them.

 Conduct regular security assessments and audits.

 Collaborate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and other emergency

services to ensure comprehensive risk management.

Event Security Coordination:

 Work closely with event organizers to assess security needs for each event.

 Ensure proper security arrangements for large events, including crowd control, VIP

security, and incident response.

 Collaborate with other departments (event planning, logistics, etc.) to ensure seamless

event security operations.

Surveillance and Technology Management:

 Oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of surveillance cameras, alarms,

and other security technologies.

 Ensure the security systems are operational and that security staff are trained in their

use.

 Monitor security footage and investigate any suspicious activity or incidents.

Incident Reporting and Documentation:

 Maintain accurate and detailed records of security-related incidents, accidents, and

responses.

 Ensure all incidents are documented and reported in accordance with company policies.

 Provide timely reports to senior management regarding security concerns and

recommendations.

Customer Service:

 Serve as a point of contact for guest inquiries and concerns regarding safety and

security.

 Provide a high level of customer service while maintaining security protocols.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a security management role, preferably within a large facility or

event environment.

• Strong knowledge of security systems, risk management, and emergency response

procedures.

• Ability to lead and manage a team of security personnel effectively.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with staff,

guests, and law enforcement.

• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations.

• Physical fitness and the ability to perform security-related duties, such as patrolling the

facility and standing for extended periods.

• Experience with security technology (CCTV, access control systems, alarm systems) is a

plus.

• Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements related to security operations.

• Certification in security management or related fields (e.g., CPP, PSP, or similar)

preferred.

 Working Conditions:

• This position may require working nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the

event schedule.

• May involve working in a high-traffic, high-energy environment with significant

interaction with guests and staff.

• The Security Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of all

individuals within the convention center while also delivering exceptional service.

NOTE: Selection will be based on an evaluation of applicants’ training, skills and experience.

Pay

$75,000-$85,000
