GATE ATTENDANT (Gateway Bridge Parking Lot)
Salary - 106 - $29,926.00 minimum salary.
Purpose of Classification
Performs clerical work in support of assigned parking lot. Duties include greeting guests and collecting money from parking lot users that are entering the parking lot. Positions in this class perform routine account reconciliation and identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies; answer questions; and maintain documents and records.
Essential Functions
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Provides customer service to the general public; collects money for parking lot access on a daily basis and verifies credit card transactions (if applicable); summarizes details of transactions on individual ledgers; assesses cost and fees.
Opens and closes gates during morning and afternoon shifts; cleans county parking lot facilities to ensure they are working properly.
Keeps entrance lanes running smoothly.
Directs complaints to proper manager; provides the public with information regarding parking lot rates, rules and hours.
Checks for authorized access to park; prepares reports of daily receipts at the end of each shift; keeps booths clean
Provides assistance and information to employees, managers, vendors, citizens, local businesses, and/or and other interested parties regarding assigned parking lot; serves as liaison between supervisors, vendors, and other departments in regards to the parking lot. Explains policies and procedures.
Additional Functions
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year of experience performing cash handling and/or fiscal control work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert medium physical effort in medium work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of medium weight (20-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
Civil Service: This position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period prior to Civil Service eligibility. Must submit to a Civil Service Clerical Exam.
