Job Description
This 3rd shift Maintenance Technician role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and supporting highly automated production equipment in a clean, modern canning facility. You will ensure maximum equipment uptime, support operational efficiency, and perform mechanical changeovers on machines such as canning seamers, fillers, palletizers, conveyors, and packaging equipment to keep production on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production machinery and equipment to maximize uptime and reliability.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify wear, potential failures, and other issues before they escalate into unplanned downtime.
- Perform and lead mechanical changeovers on production equipment, including canning seamers, fillers, palletizers, conveyors, and packaging machines.
- Set up, adjust, and verify machines prior to production startup to ensure they meet operational and quality requirements.
- Work closely with production teams to plan and execute efficient changeovers while minimizing downtime and maintaining production schedules.
- Maintain equipment readiness by monitoring performance, addressing issues promptly, and ensuring machines are available to support production demands.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions quickly and accurately using mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge.
- Repair or replace defective components, parts, and assemblies on production equipment as needed.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure critical spare parts and materials are available to support timely repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment history using established maintenance documentation procedures.
- Follow and apply maintenance management documentation procedures to ensure consistent and traceable maintenance practices.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with applicable safety regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Participate in safety training programs and apply safe work practices while working on production equipment.
- Collaborate closely with production and other departments to understand equipment needs, priorities, and scheduling constraints.
- Provide technical support and guidance to production personnel on equipment operation, minor adjustments, and basic troubleshooting.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of industrial machine repair experience.
- Hands-on experience repairing or installing can seamer machines, specifically equipment that seals the top of the can to the body.
- Strong mechanical skills with the ability to diagnose and repair complex production equipment.
- Working knowledge of hydraulics and the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic systems.
- Working knowledge of pneumatics and the ability to troubleshoot pneumatic systems.
- Experience maintaining and repairing conveyor systems in a production environment.
- Experience working with filling machines and related packaging equipment.
- Ability to perform precise mechanical adjustments and setups on automated machinery.
- Capability to read, follow, and maintain maintenance documentation and equipment records.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety procedures during maintenance activities.
- Effective communication skills to work closely with production teams and other departments.
- Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift, Sunday through Thursday.

- Experience in a high-speed production or packaging environment.
- Familiarity with automated equipment used in canning operations.
- Ability to lead or coordinate changeovers with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to preventing equipment downtime.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple maintenance tasks and priorities.
- Comfort working with maintenance management systems or structured documentation processes.

Work Environment
This role is based in a clean, well-maintained production facility that operates automated canning lines for a diverse range of beverage products, including breweries, energy drinks, and soda. You will work with new, automated equipment such as canning seamers, fillers, palletizers, conveyors, and packaging machines. The position is on 3rd shift, Sunday through Thursday, supporting continuous production operations. The environment is highly production-focused, with an emphasis on equipment reliability, safety, and efficient changeovers. Dress will align with a typical industrial production setting and may include appropriate workwear and safety gear suitable for a clean, automated manufacturing environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $70720.00/yr.
