Facilities Technician
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Facilities Technician to join our distribution center team. In this role, you will ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of our facility's infrastructure, automated systems, and material handling equipment. You will play a critical role in supporting continuous improvement, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe, customer-focused production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Facility & Infrastructure: Repair and improve building infrastructure, pneumatic systems, fire protection systems, and HVAC units. Perform metal and wood fabrications, including welding.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and repair automated conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and distribution center racking.
- Preventative Maintenance: Complete routine preventative maintenance procedures and accurately document all work performed.
- Inventory & Continuous Improvement: Track and manage department inventory, including spare parts, while actively supporting facility-wide continuous improvement initiatives.
- Operations & Safety: Maintain excellent housekeeping practices, adhere to strict safety protocols, and provide flexible shift support within a 24/7 operation, including rotating on-call duties for weekends and holidays.
Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated experience in automated conveyor systems and controls, electrical/electronic principles, blueprint and schematic reading, material handling equipment repair, HVAC maintenance, and preventative maintenance procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in mechanical or electrical fields, supplemented by 4+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional multitasking abilities, strong independent work ethic, and effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with peers, management, contractors, and vendors.
