Industrial Maintenance Technician – Food Processing

Location: Bellingham, WA
Client of Soluzone Consulting – Major Food Manufacturing Company
Full-Time | 40 hrs/week | $28–$38 per hour DOE


About the Role

Our client, a leading food manufacturing company, is seeking a skilled and reliable Industrial Maintenance Technician to support daily production and facility operations. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of dairy processing and packaging equipment by performing diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and system improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform diagnostics, maintenance, setup, and repairs on dairy processing and packaging equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automated systems to quickly restore operations.
  • Adjust, dismantle, install, optimize, and repair processing machinery and equipment.
  • Identify and implement improvements on food processing equipment to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Preventive Maintenance & Inspections

  • Conduct routine inspections of machinery and facility equipment.
  • Perform preventive/regular maintenance to prevent equipment failure.
  • Identify early signs of mechanical/electrical issues and report concerns promptly.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Document all work performed in alignment with Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards.
  • Ensure safe operations following OSHA/LNI and internal safety protocols.
  • Prioritize multiple work orders and respond to maintenance calls effectively.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Collaborate closely with maintenance, production, and supervisory teams.
  • Provide clear communication on equipment conditions, repairs, and recommendations.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment.


Required Skills & Experience

  • 2–3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a factory or plant environment.
  • Strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Familiarity with automated/ integrated systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient with Windows computers (email, documents, spreadsheets, forms, file organization).
  • Fluent in English, including technical terminology.
  • Strong understanding of occupational safety practices.


Desired Skills (Asset but Not Mandatory)

  • Lockout Tagout (LOTO)
  • Bearings and drives troubleshooting
  • AC motor troubleshooting and repair
  • Electrical troubleshooting (24v, 120v, 240v, 480v)
  • PLC/VFD programming exposure
  • Forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift certification
  • Basic stainless steel TIG welding
  • General fabrication, plumbing, pneumatics, or fluid systems knowledge
  • Conversational Spanish


Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive motion (bending, climbing, kneeling, pulling, pushing, twisting).
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to read small text/diagrams in variable lighting.
  • Work safely in loud, hot, cold, or humid environments.
  • Enter confined spaces and work at moderate heights with proper protection.


Working Conditions

This role is based inside a food production facility with exposure to:

  • Chemicals
  • Moving mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Hot and cold surfaces
  • Fluctuating temperatures
  • Grease, oils, and cleaning agents
  • Loud noise
  • Outdoor weather (as required)


Compensation

  • Hourly: $28.00 – $38.00 per hour (DOE)
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
