Now hiring 2nd shift (5:30pm-11pm) Cleaners at Cleveland public schools throughout the city!

Pay starts at $17.50 / hour, paid weekly.

Applicants must have a clean criminal background with no felonies.

These are great temp-to-perm jobs with a path to CMSD's competitive benefits including PTO, vacation time, and full union benefits.

A floating school cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic, and safe environment within multiple schools in both the west and east side of Cleveland, ensuring that all areas are conducive to learning.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning Duties: Perform a variety of cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors; cleaning desks, chairs, and other furniture; and sanitizing restrooms and common areas.
Maintenance of Supplies: Ensure that cleaning supplies are used safely and effectively and report any shortages or needs for additional supplies to the supervisor.
Health and Safety Compliance: Always follow health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment, such as gloves and masks.
Team Collaboration: Work as part of a team to maintain the cleanliness of the school and participate in training sessions as required.
Special Cleaning Tasks: During school closures, undertake routine cleaning tasks such as high-level dusting, floor stripping, and sealing.

Skills and Qualifications

Attention to Detail: Ability to notice and address even the smallest areas of dirt or disorder.
Physical Stamina: Capable of performing physical tasks such as lifting, standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
Reliability: Consistent and dependable in attendance and work performance.
Communication Skills: Basic ability to understand and follow instructions, and effectively report any issues or concerns.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members to maintain the school’s cleanliness.

Working Conditions

The role may involve working during school hours or after hours, depending on the cleaning schedule. Cleaners may also be required to handle cleaning of spills or accidents and perform deep cleaning during school holidays.
