Job Description

The Maintenance Technician ensures that all production machinery operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. This role focuses on both mechanical and electrical maintenance, including work on hydraulics, pneumatics, and 480V systems, while performing troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on conveyors, cutting equipment, pumps, and packaging machinery in a regulated food production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production machinery to keep all equipment running safely and efficiently.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues involving hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, cutting equipment, and packaging machinery.
  • Perform electrical maintenance and troubleshooting on systems operating at 480V, including 3-phase motors.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance (PM) on all assigned equipment to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Inspect conveyor systems and packaging equipment regularly, identifying potential issues before they lead to failures.
  • Use strong mechanical aptitude to identify root causes of equipment problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Follow and apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and FDA-regulated procedures while performing all maintenance tasks.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and preventive maintenance in accordance with facility guidelines.
  • Collaborate with production and operations personnel to prioritize maintenance work and minimize disruption to production.
  • Support continuous improvement of equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
  • Work scheduled shifts and every other weekend as needed, including extended hours, to support a high-volume operation.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2+ years of experience in maintenance within an industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.
  • Hands-on experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics on the mechanical side of production equipment.
  • Experience with electrical systems, including working with 480V power and 3-phase motors.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair conveyors, pumps, cutting equipment, and packaging machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues quickly.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Familiarity with conveyor systems and conveyor maintenance.
  • Ability to work safely in a regulated environment while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Comfort working in a cool environment at approximately 36 degrees year-round.
  • Willingness to work mostly six days per week, including every other weekend, as part of a healthy overtime schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining packaging machines in a food or FDA-regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of Packaging Maintenance practices and standards.
  • Prior experience working under FDA or similar regulatory guidelines.
  • PLC experience or exposure is a plus, even if not required.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production and maintenance teams.
  • Demonstrated reliability and commitment to completing preventive maintenance tasks on schedule.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food production facility where produce is cut, cleaned, and packaged. The environment is maintained at approximately 36 degrees year-round, so you will work in a consistently cool setting. The facility operates under FDA regulations and follows strict GMP guidelines, requiring adherence to cleanliness and safety standards at all times. The schedule includes two day-shift openings, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the expectation of working every other weekend and mostly six days per week to support production needs. Uniforms are provided after 90 days, contributing to a professional and consistent dress standard on the production floor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
