We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and customer-focused Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team at a school campus. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and well-functioning campus by performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance tasks.
Because it is a school environment, this job requires some custodial responsibilities to ensure the campus remains clean, safe, and operational through the school day.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform general building maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, doors, locks, and other building systems.
Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Perform routine inspections to identify maintenance and safety concerns.
Assist with campus event setup and breakdown as needed.
Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment safely.
Maintain organized work areas and ensure tools and materials are properly stored.
Communicate professionally with school staff, faculty, students, vendors, and management.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Respond to daily custodial needs throughout the campus.
Clean and sanitize restrooms as needed during the day.
Unclog toilets, sinks, and floor drains.
Clean spills, bodily fluid incidents, and other unexpected messes using proper safety procedures.
Remove trash and recycling as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
4 or more years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, general construction, or a skilled trade.
Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC troubleshooting, carpentry, and general repairs.
Experience using hand and power tools safely.
Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine appropriate repairs.
Basic computer skills, including the ability to:
Receive and complete electronic work orders
Use email and mobile applications
Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to:
Understand work orders and safety procedures
Communicate effectively with staff and supervisors
Complete maintenance documentation
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Physical Requirements
Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and work on ladders throughout the day.
Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Occasionally work evenings, weekends, or overtime for emergencies or special events.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in schools, campuses, healthcare facilities, or commercial buildings.
Trade certifications or vocational training.
Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
